Governor Orders "Stay At Home"

Richmond, Va. ( - Following a weekend where crowds were seen at some beaches and recreational areas, Governor Ralph Northam has ordered an official "stay at home" order.  The order tells Virginians to stay at home, with exceptions for work, food, and medical care.  Exercise is also allowed with proper social distancing rules.  The order is in effect through June 10th.

With the order, the only people allowed on the beaches will be fishermen or people exercising.  All places of higher learning must stop in-person classes, which impacts Liberty University.  The Lynchburg school recently encouraged students to return to campus.

Violations of some parts of the order, including the beaches and the 10-person gathering limit, are a misdemeanor.

Virginia currently has over 1,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 25 deaths.
