POLL: The 8 Hottest Hip Hop Holiday Hits of All Time

From Run the Jewels to Run-D.M.C., here are some of our holiday favorites

December 12, 2017
Run The Jewels, Kanye West, Sean "Diddy" Combs, DMX.

We're giving you the gift of bars this holiday season! But not just any bars, oh no, hip-hop holiday bars! That's right, we put together a list of our eight favorite hip-hop, holiday-themed hits. But don't worry, we wouldn't do it without YOUR input! After you peep our list, take our poll and tell us which is your favorite or let us know what we missed!

8. Jim Jones -- "Ballin' on Xmas" (2006)

This song doesn't just make the list because it samples a holiday classic, and fellow member of our hip-hop holiday hits list, in "Christmas in Hollis," but it certainly doesn't hurt either. Nice to hear Jim Jones and the Dipset crew spreading the joys of ballin' during the holiday season.

7.Eazy-E -- "Merry Muthaf*ckin' Xmas" (1988)

First off, it isn't really a Christmas song as much as it's a parody of a bunch of Christmas songs and carols. Secondly, the thing about Eazy-E was that even though he's seen as the Godfather of Gangsta Rap, the dude had a pretty good sense of humor -- which is pretty evident in this track.

6. Run the Jewels -- "A Christmas F*cking Miracle" (2013)

While it is perhaps one of the hottest hip hop holiday songs to come out in the last few years, like Eazy-E's "Merry Muthaf*ckin Xmas," Run the Jewels' track isn't really a Christmas song either. It's more of El-P and Killer Mike telling a story about not selling out. Either way, it's hot and has Christmas in the title.

5. Kanye West, CyHi Da Prynce, Teyana Taylor -- "Christmas in Harlem" (2010)

Leave it to a Chicago native to pay homage to Run-DMC's classic with this Christmas jam. We can't be certain, because he's too busy to ask, but we're pretty sure Santa approves of Kanye West's fun, festive, and feel good hip-hop Christmas song.

4. The Treacherous Three -- "Christmas Rap" (1984)

Old school hip-hop at its finest on full display right here! Straight down to the poetic delivery of social injustice, The Treacherous Three (Special K, LA Sunshine, and Kool Mo Dee, featuring Doug E. Fresh) deliver a Christmas rap that'll take you right back to the mid-1980s.

3. Run-D.M.C -- "Chistmas in Hollis" (1988)

Ah, yes, the grandaddy of hip-hop Christmas songs! While anyone who grew up in the 90s has this one on their list of standards, did you know that it was actually the Run-D.M.C. classic being featured in Die Hard that helped make this jam a global hit!

2. DMX -- Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer (2012)

90s rap legend DMX broke the internet back in 2012 when a random remix of the Christmas classic went viral. Flash forward five years and X has released an official version of the banger. Oh, and if you can't stop listening to it -- don't worry -- you're far from alone!

1. Run-DMC, Mase, Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Salt-N-Pepa, Onyx, Keith Murray -- "Santa Baby" (1997)

Sorry, but this one is the best. Too many stars from different eras of hip hop on one single track. Honestly, it's amazing. Trust us, just put this one on loop until Christmas dinner and enjoy.

So which one of our eight favorites is your favorite? Did we leave your favorite out? Let us know by taking our poll below.
